2BN MIVDF is Second to None!

I am proud to say the 2nd Battalion is an exceptional unit within the Michigan Volunteer Defense Force (MIVDF) Brigade, with a very unique area of operational responsibility (AOR).  It is the largest of the Brigade's seven Battalions representing almost 25% of the Brigades total strength and includes individuals with the following specialties:

  • Drill Sergeants for the entire Brigade, who instruct the new members in Basic Training plus train new Drill SGTs

  • 1/3rd of the members in the Receipt, Store and Stage (RSS) detachment, who distribute medical supplies, received from the National Stockpile, throughout the State of Michigan during pandemics

  • Certified Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Military Emergency Management Specialists (MEMS), Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

  • Reserve Police Officers in their cities

  • Trained Color Guard, that represents the unit at various military and civilian events in southeastern lower Michigan

The 2nd BN MIVDF's AOR is unique for other reasons.  Our AOR contains the majority of the state’s critical roadways, air travel and border infrastructures.  All of Michigan's major freeways intersect somewhere within our AOR.  We contain four of the state’s major and international airports, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, Coleman A. Young International Airport, Willow Run and Oakland County International, as well as Selfridge Air National Guard Base (ANGB).  Our AOR footprint includes 24 nautical miles of the Detroit River, the main strait in the Great Lakes waterway system for import and export and the access points into Canada from the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel and both the Ambassador and Blue Water bridges.

The 2BN MIVDF AOR contains approximately 44% of the state’s entire population and is headquarters to many of the largest companies including the World headquarters of Fiat Chrysler Automotive (FCA) in Auburn Hills, Ford Motor Company World Headquarters in Dearborn and General Motors World Headquarters in downtown Detroit.  The Enrico Fermi Nuclear Generating Station located in Newport, is also in the southernmost part of the AOR.

I could go on, but I think you get the picture.  So, if you are interested in becoming a part of a unique organization with these types of unique capabilities and responsibilities, you may want to consider 2nd BN MIVDF.

Second Battalion....When you care enough to demand the very best.  Second to None!
